Here's the thing about Credit Salvage. They occupy a space that a lot of South Africans genuinely need, short-term credit for people whose records aren't clean. But occupying a space and doing it well aren't the same thing.
Let's start with the rate. At 35% per annum, Credit Salvage is actually more restrained than many short-term lenders in this category. On a loan of R5,000 over 90 days at 35% per annum, you're looking at roughly R430 in interest, bringing your total repayment to around R5,430. That's not nothing, but compare it to some competitors charging 60% per annum or more, and it starts to look reasonable. The rate alone isn't the problem here.
The bigger issue is accessibility and transparency. There's no active website listed for Credit Salvage. So if you want to check their rates, read their terms, or even confirm their NCR registration before handing over your documents, you're stuck making phone calls or walking in somewhere. In 2026, that's a real obstacle. Most South Africans are comparing lenders on their phones at 9pm, not during business hours.

Unfair default
I am writing to express my disappointment and frustration with the way my account has been handled. I signed up with Credit Salvage for credit clearance services as a returning customer, after previously using your services and referring several clients to your consultant, Sindile. However, after one failed debit order due to unavailable funds, my account was immediately placed under default without fair consideration or proper service delivery. After being contacted regarding the failed payment, I informed your team that my payments were delayed and proposed to make a deposit instead. This was refused, and I was told it was not allowed. I find this extremely unfair, especially considering that no actual credit clearance services had yet been carried out on my account. It is unacceptable to place a customer under default when no service has been rendered. As customers, we should only be expected to pay for services that have actually been provided. Furthermore, many of the people I referred to your company have experienced similar issues: multiple follow-ups, ongoing deductions, and very slow or non-existent service delivery. I trusted Credit Salvage based on my previous experience, but this has left me highly disappointed. I am not easily impressed or often moved to publically compliment service. In this instance both are absolutely necessary! I engaged Credit Salvage some months back to assist me.with - what turned out to be - an extremely challenging process of debt review cancellation. After initially registering my case through their website and engaging with who I believe was one of their advisors, my case was transferred to Chemonay. I would have to write an essay to fully cover the complexities, challenges and obstacles faced in my case.
