Pros & Cons

Advantages

  • Specialised focus on the taxi industry, which most lenders ignore
  • 35% annual rate is reasonable compared to short-term lenders charging 60% or more
  • Flexible terms from very short to 180 days
  • Loan amounts start as low as R500, so you don't have to overborrow

Disadvantages

  • Trust score of 2.3 out of 10 based on customer reviews we collected is seriously low
  • No website makes it hard to verify rates, terms, or NCR registration before you commit
  • Ranked 27th out of 37 lenders we assessed, which is not a position you want your lender in
  • Very limited market, not useful if you're outside the taxi industry
  • No first loan free offer, which many competing short-term lenders do provide

About Sa Taxi Finance

If you drive a minibus taxi and you're looking for vehicle finance, Sa Taxi Finance is one of the names that comes up. They focus specifically on the taxi industry, which makes them unusual in a market where most lenders don't want to touch minibus finance at all. That narrow focus is both their biggest strength and the thing that limits who they're actually useful for.

The terms on paper look reasonable. A 35% annual interest rate is not the worst number in this market, and loan amounts run from R500 up to R9,000. But here's the thing: the customer feedback we collected paints a different picture from the marketing. A trust score of 2.3 out of 10, based on 40 customer reviews we gathered, is a real problem. That's not a rounding error. That's a pattern.

We gave Sa Taxi Finance a score of 4.4 out of 10, which puts them at number 27 out of 37 lenders we rated. There are better options out there for most borrowers.

How Does Sa Taxi Finance Work?

1

1. Contact Sa Taxi Finance directly, as they do not operate a public-facing website. You'll need to reach them by phone or in person at a branch.

2

2. Submit your documents, including proof of income, ID, and bank statements. This stage can take a day or two depending on how complete your application is.

3

3. Sa Taxi Finance assesses your application against their lending criteria. For vehicle finance, they'll also look at the specific taxi you're financing.

4

4. If approved, you'll receive a loan agreement outlining your repayment term, which can run from 1 day up to 180 days.

5

5. Funds or vehicle financing is arranged after you sign. Payout timelines are not publicly confirmed, so ask specifically when you apply.

Requirements

Who Is Sa Taxi Finance Best For?

Sa Taxi Finance is built for people working in the minibus taxi industry, whether you're an owner-operator looking to finance a new or used taxi, or someone in the trade needing short-term capital. If you're outside that sector, this lender is unlikely to be the right fit. You need to be comfortable making contact directly since there's no online application process.

Is Sa Taxi Finance Safe & Legit?

We could not independently confirm Sa Taxi Finance's current NCR registration status, and they don't have a public website where this information is displayed. Any legitimate credit provider in South Africa must be registered with the National Credit Regulator under the National Credit Act. Before you sign anything, ask for their NCR registration number and verify it at ncr.org.za. You also have the right to debt counselling under the NCA if you become overindebted. Don't skip that verification step.

Registered Credit Provider (NCR)

Our Full Review

Let's talk about what 35% per annum actually means in rands. On a loan of R5,000 over 90 days, you're looking at interest of roughly R431, bringing your total repayment to about R5,431 before any initiation or service fees. That's not outrageous. Compare that to some short-term lenders charging 60% per annum or more, and Sa Taxi Finance's rate looks almost conservative. But interest rate is only one part of the picture.

The part that concerns us more is the trust score. We collected 40 customer reviews and the feedback pulls the score down to 2.3 out of 10. That's the kind of number that tells you something consistent is going wrong, not just a few unhappy customers. Complaints tend to cluster around communication problems, delays in processing, and disputes about terms. We can't verify every individual claim, but when the pattern is that clear, it deserves your attention.

There's also the issue of transparency. Most lenders we review have at least a basic website where you can see rates, terms, and their NCR registration. Sa Taxi Finance doesn't. That means you're going in somewhat blind and you have to take what you're told at face value until you see the contract. That puts the power with them and not with you.

So is Sa Taxi Finance worth applying to? If you're in the taxi industry and struggling to get vehicle finance from mainstream banks, they might fill a gap that nobody else will. That niche matters. But go in with your eyes open. Verify their NCR status before you sign, read every line of the agreement, and understand your rights under the National Credit Act. For general personal loans, there are higher-ranked lenders on our list who are more transparent and have better customer track records. This one is a last resort for most people, not a first call.

Non response from SA TAXI

After my last review on SA TAXI and our clients experience, Solomon Mpofu responded to me and we have been talking via email. He said he will get back to me regarding his legal team I have been emailing since the 4th of March and I have gotten no response till late. Like I said this company is questionable.

I was charged over 4000 on my vehicle finance account for nothing

This is the worst company that i have ever dealt with in my entire life. It's been weeks waiting for this company to refund to my debt the amount they tried to **** and charge me for nothing and posing it as insurance while I am already being charged insurance

****** ****mer, disguising themselves as a good insurance

****** ****mer, never make a mistake of trusting them. I have been paying insurance for 2 Avanzas for more than 3 years but Today I have no car because I chose to trust these unreliable people. When I joined them there were options for your vehicle cover and I have chosen the one that doesn’t require PDP because I knew as much as these cars are working but they also gonna cater for Family and I don’t have PDP since am am not the one during the cars. Both cars were involved in an accident before and they never had a problem with pdp but all of a sudden now when they have to honour my claim they complaining about PDP, how is it an issue when I have been paying extra for a PDP not to be a problem?? It’s been 3 years now they are quite probably tired of lying. SA TAXI ****** me of my Children’s bread now I have no car no income whereas I have been paying without a fail. Ow forgot to mention how they changed the story of what happened at the scene and **** about a person dying from my car whereas both people that were there are Alive. I won’t stop till you do right by me

Bad service

Our clients taxi was hijacked in the year 2019 yet SA Taxi still wants to collect on the debt when the debt is more than 5 years old and by law that debt has prescribed. They don’t have a proper email address where queries such as this need to be addressed and the WhatsApp number given does not provide for collections or previous accounts

Bad Collections Agency

Hi, You guys gave MBD to do debt collection but they call and cut the calls after 10 seconds. You don't even get a chance to confirm your details, they just keep calling ask who they speaking and then cut the calls. So on their side it will show that they doing their jobs and they will say clients are not communicating. This is very bad on us their clients side as it will show we non compliant and those guys will get paid by SA Taxi for nothing. Please this is a major issue you guys need to resolve ASAP or do the collections yourself again!

Sad

Asanda Veronica Patience Solomon Pierre Armin thanks to all of you the beloved JY 31 PL was discontinued yesterday by provincial due to a massive oil leak n a whole lot of other issues you were all aware of n claimed it to be lies yet there was complaints from day 1 of purchasing your so called quality renewed taxi n there's enough evidence n records you still claim is lies yet can't prove it's lies when asked that you provide your so called evidence that you claim you have against us as lies. Mind you that bus didn't even reach 30000km from date of purchase in March 2021 till now n you refused to fix n sort out the major issues from day 1 of us complaining. You think a natis paper means anything n that you are in the clear you not you know what is about to happen n please don't come with more lies n stories as usual give your so called evidence n prove we are lying n not you cause we know who the ****s are hence your so called legal team that threatened us decided to run when I presented hard evidence to them that they couldn't even continue with their threats. You have no integrity n don't care about people's lives like you claim on your posts n pages it's all lies you rob people blind n leave widows n children hungry. If you were innocent as you claimed why delete our comment block is from your pages as that was the perfect platform for you to set the record straight n prove to everyone we are lying but instead you blocked us because you know it's nothing but the truth we posted n the pictures don't lie.If there was an option for zero stars I wouldn't even give you one star n I'll never recommend sa taxi/mobalyz to anyone wanting a taxi.

Settlement amount not accurate

If there was no stars I would give this company a zero out of 5. I’ve been a faithful customer for 6 years. And now having problems with SA taxi. In August I’ve ask a settlement amount and it was given I was also paid In advance from August to October I’ve made payments and still I’m in advance but the settlement amount is Almost the same as in August like does it make sense. Not even customer service could give me proper explanation on this basic math situation, the one department sends you to another department. Now it’s a AI problem 😱🙈🤦🏻‍♀️I will not recommend you guys to anyone I know.

Sa taxi are ****s n the beloved JY 31 will expose them

Sa taxi/mobalyz why do you delete evidence posted yet you claimed we are lying but the evidence is there n speaks for itself. Proof to the public we are lying by replying on social media with evidence of us lying instead of deleting our evidence that clearly shows who the ****s are not so if sa taxi had nothing to hide they wouldn't delete evidence posted by my husband n I not so. Another thing it's funny how patience bunu n Solomon Mpofu can reply to all other reviews but not to ours because they know they are part of the lying panel especially patience bunu that's still calling me from last year November promising high n low that my matter is important n she will definitely sort it out instead two other ****s from sa taxi surfaced Pierre Bruwer n Armin Philips that thought I'll just shut up n roll over well I won't you don't care about people but your bank account.

☆☆☆☆David S

Sa taxi/mobalyz stop deleting my comments on your page if you have nothing to hide tell the truth n provide your evidence of what I comment n post as being lies. Please ASSEBLIEF NGIYACELA KE A OKOPA TOG

Sa taxi/mobalyz if you have nothing to hide or if I'm telling lies like you claim I am n you have proof of me lying that you couldn't even provide to our association when Armin Philips ran to our association claiming he is the CEO of sa taxi n with a so called legal team when asked for proof that I'm lying but instead you could not nor could you answer any questions asked by our association. You keep deleting my comments on your page knowing it's nothing but the truth which is why you make sure the public don't see it. No matter how much you can delete my comments on your page it won't help because it's still on every social media platform n one thing you forget that I have solid evidence of everything sa taxi/mobalyz did to us n others the beloved JY 31 PL is part n parcel of that evidence from it's exceeded kilometres that was reversed to **** parts etc.Why did your lawyers that threatened us with 7 days pull out after I sent evidence that you conveniently ignored. As I said before the beloved JY 31 PL will fight for justice n not just for us but everyone else you did dirty n *****ed

Lies sold in the form of the beloved JY 31 PL GP

Sa taxi is the biggest ****s they lack integrity n credibility. I posted on their sa taxi n mobalyz pages nothing but the truth as I have the proof of what I posted yet sa taxi/mobalyz claimed it was lies even though Pierre bruwer n Armin Philipps had a view up close of everything I posted on their pages n even pretended to be disgusting but it was all an act. They still smooth talked me trying to stop me from continuing the legal route by offering me R40,000 as a so called gesture of good faith which I have on record yet we spent over R40,000 from day one of purchasing the beloved JY 31 PL GP n made known to them which they claim there's no records of our complaints yet I have all the records but it's nothing strange or new as sa taxi is known for getting rid off evidence so they can't be held accountable for their ********* underhand way of doing business. Unfortunately for them I'm not one you can spin wool over the eyes n think you can get away with it. Sa taxi/mobalyz tried to shut me up by giving us the natis paper n writing the so called outstanding amount off yet the bus was not even worth a R100k to begin with. The very beloved JY 31 PL exceeded it's kilometers n they reversed it from 2021 when the bus was purchased till date it didn't even do 30,000kms cause it's problem after problem sa taxi conveniently ignored n claim we never complained. To top it all Armin Philipps went to our association introducing himself as the CEO of sa taxi to complain about me saying I'm a non member spreading lies on social media n defaming their company he asked our association board to tell me to remove whatever I wrote on social media yet he couldn't answer any single question asked by the office not knowing our office was well aware of my case with them n knew I was not lying about anything posted. Armin Philipps so called CEO as he introduced himself to our office even promised to return our treasurer's bus they ********ly repossessed which is also on record in exchange for me to delete everything I posted to date the bus has not been returned. Armin Philipps Pierre bruwer n sa taxi/mobalyz then decided to go to mcroberts attorneys to draft a letter telling me I have 7 days to remove all my reviews on hello Peter n all the social media posts as it's lies n they will sue me for defamation of character. I didn't remove anything as it's not lies or fabricated in any way unlike sa taxi I stand for truth n what's right sa taxi only care about money not people's lives they rob widows by repossessing buses claiming it was in arrears when it's not then they claim from guard risk n resell the buses not paying out the widows what's due to them which I also have records of sa taxi changes installments every month that's how people end up in arrears. Sa taxi/mobalyz you have enough time to do the right thing instead you thought you will scare me with defamation letters n it didn't moshoeshoe couldn't even return my calls or talk to me after I proved to him you are the ****s n not me so much so that you even blocked me from sending emails but you will not stop me from exposing you n what you did to us n so many others. You claim it's all lies yet most of the negative reviews is similar to what we posted n exposed that you conveniently deleted from your pages n blocked me.

Biggest Taxi ****mers and rude customer service

Sa taxi is the biggest **** ever, people should stay away from buying taxis from them, I don't even want to start in the customer service, thier agents are very rude and disrespectful they take advantage of the our parents as most of thier customer are senior citizens. My parent's health has deteriorated due the inconsistencies and mishandling of payments they make monthly at SA Taxi, they have already paid more that R1,2 million at SA Taxi, when you request a statement thier rude agents send you from pillar to post.we made arrangements in May to pay off the balance which was R207,000, as of 19 August we have paid about R113,000 and the repossessed the taxi yesterday, thier statement only shows that we paid R92,000 and still thier balance even went up it says now we owing R249,000 , yesterday I provided all the receipts and they said , we have to pay the towing fee, legal fee and 2 months instalment, they come up with a huge amount knowing that you might not be able to come up with that amount and lose the taxi, This business needs to shut down it's killing our parents 😔 it's sad watching your parents go through this while dealing with rude agents that don't care. SA Taxi is killing our parents 😔

Never buying from this company ever

Few weeks ago our taxi got reposesed buy sa taxi, soon as we got there we were being told to pay 60k...when we requested the statement they were giving us all the runn arounds, never mind the bad attitude we were getting... Later on our lawyer was able to get the statements for us ony to find out that some of the amounts we had paid were not appearing and at some places we would pay 20k upwards and then on the statements only 14k would appear and the arrears where infact increasing instead of decreasing, when we try contacting them again regarding the matter they keep saying they'll call/get back to us but they never did till this day.... And this is not the first time I'm being ****med by SA TAXI I even had a threat from another employee there about making sure that he'll have my car taken away I just so wish that 1day SARS and other and/other parties would look into this ****ming business of yours... and just know that at this point I'm willing to fight this in court even if it's the last thing I'll do

Frequently Asked Questions

How much can I borrow from Sa Taxi Finance?

Loan amounts range from R500 to R9,000. This is a relatively modest range compared to vehicle finance specialists, so if you need a large amount to purchase a taxi outright, you may need to discuss whether they can structure something beyond these figures directly with them.

What interest rate does Sa Taxi Finance charge?

The stated rate is 35% per annum. That's actually on the lower end for short-term and specialised lenders in South Africa, where some charge 60% per annum or higher. Still, always check for additional fees like initiation and monthly service fees, which can push the real cost up.

How fast does Sa Taxi Finance pay out?

They don't publish payout timelines publicly. Given there's no online application, the process is likely slower than digital lenders who pay out within 24 hours. Ask them directly for a timeline when you apply.

Is Sa Taxi Finance registered with the NCR?

We could not independently confirm their NCR registration from public sources. This is important. Any lender operating legally in South Africa must be registered with the National Credit Regulator. Ask for their registration number and check it yourself at ncr.org.za before signing anything.

Can I get a Sa Taxi Finance loan with bad credit?

Sa Taxi Finance focuses on the taxi industry rather than purely credit score lending, so their criteria may differ from traditional banks. That said, they will still assess affordability as required under the NCA. It's worth applying if you're in the taxi trade, but approval is not guaranteed with a poor credit record.

What documents do I need?

You'll need a valid South African ID, 3 months of bank statements, proof of income or taxi business documentation, proof of residence, and details of any vehicle involved in the finance. Have everything ready before you make contact to avoid delays.
