🛡️ Our Honest Take
Payflex entered the South African market as one of the first local BNPL platforms and has grown into a well-recognised name among online shoppers. The core product is simple: split your purchase into up to four equal, interest-free payments over six weeks, with the first 25% paid at checkout. There are no hidden fees if you pay on time, and the 0% interest rate means Payflex costs you nothing extra provided you meet each instalment deadline.
The merchant network is a genuine strength. Payflex has partnered with retailers across fashion and apparel, beauty, tech and electronics, home goods, fitness and wellness, appliances, and food and beverage. The option to use Payflex in-store as well as online broadens its appeal beyond digital-only shoppers. For consumers who regularly shop across these categories, having a single BNPL account that works at multiple retailers adds real convenience.
From a credit terms perspective, the product is transparent. The minimum purchase is R50 and the maximum is R10,000, the term is fixed at 42 days, and the interest rate is 0%. There are no compounding charges and no monthly service fees described on the product. This makes Payflex easier to evaluate than traditional personal loans, where interest rates and initiation fees can significantly increase the total repayment amount.
Customer feedback is broadly positive, with a trust score of 4.6 based on over 82,000 reviews, which reflects strong satisfaction at scale. However, a portion of recent low-rated reviews highlights recurring issues around account access, OTP delivery failures, slow customer support and, in isolated cases, alleged unauthorised debits. Shoppers should ensure their contact details are current, review their DebiCheck mandates through their bank, and act quickly if they notice any unexpected account activity. Payflex encourages customers to report problems directly so they can be resolved.
Overall, Payflex is a solid option for South African consumers who want a short-term, interest-free way to spread retail spending without applying for a credit card or personal loan. It is not a substitute for longer-term borrowing needs, and the fixed six-week window means it suits people with predictable income rather than those already under financial strain. Used responsibly, it is one of the more transparent and cost-effective payment tools available to South African shoppers today.

Non Delivery and no cooperation from Revibe and Payflex
Non Delivery and no cooperation from Revibe and Payflex I purchased a device from Revibe on 26 May through Payflex, with an estimated delivery date of 2 June. The shipment has been delayed because DHL requires documents from the merchant, but despite several attempts to get assistance, Payflex and Revibe have been completely unreachable. As the payment provider, I expected Payflex to help resolve the issue or at least provide feedback on my refund request. Instead, I've been left waiting with no updates, no support, and no way to get answers. Revibe has also been difficult to reach. At this point, I just want a refund. I'm exhausted from calling and following up with no response from either party, especially Payflex.
Can't access account no matter what I do!
I have tried to use Payflex and the experience has been extremely frustrating. I cannot log into my account, I do not receive OTPs via SMS, and password reset emails never arrive. I then attempted to contact support, but the support form on the website does not submit, even after completing all required fields. This means there is currently no way to access my account or get assistance. My phone and email are working perfectly, so this appears to be an issue with Payflex’s systems. Please can someone from Payflex support contact me directly to resolve this.

Been waiting for a call 'from an agent' since last week for biometric verification! No telephone numbers, only an email box from where no response comes through!!!!
I hereby report fraudulent activity by…
I hereby report fraudulent activity by Payflex, which resulted in an unauthorized debit of *R2700+* from my Nedbank account. The debit occurred in the early hours without my knowledge, and when I tried to perform transactions I discovered the money was gone. Nedbank confirmed that Payflex initiated the debit and stated they cannot reverse it. I have emailed Payflex detailing the fraudulent activity and requesting an immediate investigation, reversal of the debited amount, and assurance that security measures will be improved to prevent future unauthorized transactions. I expect Payflex to resolve the matter urgently and provide full restitution for the loss incurred.

Nightmare Service
It is an absolute nightmare trying to get anything resolved if a query does arise. You can expect to have weeks of late penalties added to your account which they won't reverse, even though they close tickets before sorting the issue out!

It was working well
It was working well, and support was responsive. Suddenly I saw that I do not have orders, as in I can't make orders, I tried live chat with them and they gave me support email, I sent the email, they never responded. Live chat responds after 9 hours or the following day.

I absolutely love Payflex
I absolutely love Payflex! It makes shopping so much easier because I can spread my payments without the stress of a credit card. The app is super simple to use, the checkout process is smooth and I feel in control of my budget. Whether I’m shopping online or in-store, Payflex always makes everything feel easy and flexible. Highly recommend to anyone who wants a smarter way to pay!
Paid in Full for an Order That Doesn’t Exist – Zero Support from Payflex
Go to Hellopeter.com to see a full picture of how poorly this company handles customers. Anyway, I am extremely disappointed with Payflex’s handling of my case. I attempted to make a purchase on Cotton On via Payflex. During checkout, the payment window was accidentally closed before I could confirm completion. I never received a confirmation email from Cotton On, and the order does not reflect in my Cotton On account. There is no order number, no invoice, and no record of a successful purchase on the retailer’s side. However, Payflex insists that the transaction was successful. I have now paid the full amount to Payflex for a purchase that does not exist. Despite submitting multiple queries, I receive the same generic response: “The purchase was successful,” and the ticket is closed without resolution. There is: No proof of a completed retailer order No order confirmation No way to escalate the issue No customer support phone number No meaningful investigation into the discrepancy Closing tickets without resolving the issue is not customer service. It is dismissive and unacceptable. At this point, I have paid for goods I have not received, and Payflex refuses to properly investigate or provide proof that Cotton On processed the order. I expect: Written proof of a valid order from Cotton On linked to this transaction, OR An immediate refund of the full amount paid. Consumers should not have to chase their own money when a payment gateway fails to reconcile a transaction properly. Until this is resolved, I cannot recommend Payflex to anyone.
poor customer service
I really do not understand the business model. I have been a client of Payflexfor years and I have never missed a payment, in actual fact I at times even pay some orders before the due date. This morning i tried to purchase something unaware that my limit was reduced. No communication what so ever,no reason given. Imagine the emabarrestment.

Easy to use and is available with most retailers🙂↕️.. I just wish that when you place an order and your chosen salary date has not passed yet it would automatically charge again on the following month so that it is 3 pay in 3 months instead of 3 payments in 2 months
Fraudulent transactions
Fraudulent transactions, payflex not picking up payments that was paid. No support what so ever from there website, not even a phone number that works....
Bad Customer Service
I can't verify my identity on their app. I logged a ticket, but they didn't even bother with investigations. I don't have an ID book; im using a smart card, and I do have an account with them. I was not applying for an account. I got this response from Khayalethu Nyembe , "Unfortunately, your ID book has not been verified by the Department of Home Affairs. To rectify this, you will need to apply for a new ID card. This will bring your records and latest photo up to date at the Department of Home Affairs. It is important to note that there is no issue with the validity of your current ID book. The reason for this verification failure is simply that Home Affairs does not possess your digital photo, which is necessary for our system to verify your identity. This may be due to the fact that your ID book was issued prior to the implementation of the new system. Our system compares the photo you provide through the link we send with your Home Affairs digital ID photo. Once your Smart ID card has been digitally activated and you have received it, you are more than welcome to apply for a Payflex account.
One of the trusted payment methods in SA
The payflex is still number one on the list and much convenient, I just recently returned back my order from Takealot which I used payflex as a trusted and reliable payment method and payflex paid me back my money within 12 hours of my return request. I recommend this payflex payment method to anyone who wants a convenient shopping experience.
Payflex not paying my R6500 on Takealot return
I returned order on Takealot 12 days ago and not receiving my R6500 that payflex is owing me. The landline number is not answered and no response from email. Just automated response saying max response time is 72 hours. I have been waiting for 300 hours for a response. People must be careful of using this fraudulent payflex service.

I purchased an item from Takealot i made 3 payments, but they still deducted a 4th payment and now i am struggling to get my refund. You can't call because they never answer and they take forever to respond to your emails. I have sent the proof of payments, but nothing gets done. I wonder if I will ever get my refund. I again today resent my proofs of payments because they wanted my bank statements but i think that is ridiculous.
I have had aExtremely Poor Service – Payflex Fails to Help Customersn absolutely terrible…
I have had an absolutely terrible experience with Payflex. I placed two orders through a merchant— both of which were cancelled the same day because the merchant had no stock. Despite the cancellations, I have paid Payflex in full. The merchant now claims that they never received any payment from Payflex and therefore cannot process my refund. I reached out to Payflex numerous times, simply asking for proof of payment to the merchant so that I could show the merchant and recover my money. To this day, Payflex has ignored my repeated emails and support tickets. My latest ticket, #306178, has been open for days with no response — despite Payflex advertising a maximum response time of 72 hours. It’s clear that this timeframe means nothing to them. Their so-called “customer support” is non-existent. No one takes ownership, no one follows up, and there is no escalation path for unresolved queries. What should have been a simple refund matter has turned into a frustrating and time-consuming ordeal where I’m caught between a merchant that blames Payflex and a payment provider that refuses to help or even communicate. Payflex’s policy that they “do not get involved in refunds” is fine in principle — but refusing to even provide basic proof of payment is unacceptable. It’s been over 7 months since I placed these orders, and I still have no refund and no help from Payflex. If this is how Payflex treats paying customers, I strongly advise anyone considering using them to think twice. Their lack of accountability and disregard for customer support is shocking.
i have had no issues with Payflex up…
i have had no issues with Payflex up until I had to update my details. My issue is that my Mobile number and ID was updated after this my credit was reduced from R5000 to. R0.00, they told me to pay outstanding amounts. The next payment is due 25 November 2025. In fact, I wanted to make an advance payment, and the system would bounce to an error message. I then contacted support, and each consultant would give me the same steps that did not work, screenshot, screen recorded, and sent, and nothing. I then realized that it must be a technical issue. I tried explaining but they would mark the query solved even though it was not. SO now I have an account with payflex I cant use and nobody is helping.
Disgusting customer service
The customer service is terrible. 1. You cannot send an email 2. You cannot call. 3. Queries takes a long time to resolve
Payflex makes it worth it
Split interest free payments makes shopping on the likes of Take a lot and Shein a breeze!
Payflex a Human discriminating entity!!
Just have a shocking experience with Payflex..firstly, their app selfie system does not work, when acquire they said my I'd photo is not with Home Affairs?? I have to apply for a digital ID, I said I never apply for a NWO digital human control Id as long as I live, they come back and say they do not help people older than 60? What a NWO influenced, discriminating entity!!
Poor service and messed up account
Have always been a loyal payflex client for many years, after a recent issue I dont think I will support them anymore, my available balance always used to refresh as payment are made and become available again, suddenly after my last purchase thats not the case, spoke to support and now is suddenly R0 available ? I have much higher limit than what is owed and cant use it now but they say the system updates it... this is not acceptable Payflex you messed up my account!!!
Unjust Late Fee – Immediate Resolution Required
Good day, I am extremely disappointed that this issue has still not been resolved. I reported it on the same day my debit was due, yet no one has assisted me. I get an email 7 days later! No contact numbers no real time help! Let me be very clear — the late fee was not applicable when I first attempted payment at 10am. Minutes later, when I logged back in, Payflex suddenly applied the fee. This is completely unjust and unacceptable. I have screenshots proving that I was not late, and it is unreasonable to charge me a fee when not even 24 hours had passed. I have been a loyal customer for years and have never missed a single payment. I am not paying the R250 fee. This is an unfair penalty due to a system error, not customer fault. Please treat this with the urgency it deserves.

Life made easier
Payflex has made my life easier by allowing me to buy, get my goods immediately and pay them back without interest. It has saved me from unnecessary debts that comes with opening a store account.
Just perfect 👌
It's very easy to use and comes to rescue when in need of an item but low on cash, it's very convenient. Awesome!! 💯

Daylight Robbery!
Payflex has been wonderful, until recently when they deducted money late, resulting in late payment fees. They refuse to take responsibility and it's taken weeks to reply to my e-mails. According to my bank the fault was clearly on their side and they simply refuse to refund the money. There is clearly something wrong in their Admin department as of late! I finally received an e-mail today, in an agressive tone, stating that it is my fault for not simply paying the money to avoid late fees. I did not have the option, though, and -as stated earlier - there was no way of contacting them except via e-mail, to which they did not reply. Furthermore I received a refund of R600 from Temu, for a parcel not received, of which Payflex only paid R200. NOT HAPPY! -x-
Worst service
Worst service, they deduct money late to make you pay late payment fees, I exposed them about this and they decided to block me to prevent other clients to see them for who they are.
Their computer system is excellent.
Fast automation of orders and payments.
Ive had an extremely poor experience…
Ive had an extremely poor experience with Payflex. I returned my order through the retailer and the cancellation was confirmed, yet Payflex continued to charge me overdue fees. I’ve sent over 10 emails with proof of cancellation and have not received a proper response. It’s very concerning that customers are left without support when issues arise. This needs urgent attention. I cannot recommend Payflex based on my experience.
