How we rate

Each lender is scored out of 10 across five weighted factors: customer reviews (35%), loan terms & cost (25%), transparency (15%), NCR registration (15%), and customer support (10%). We are independent and never accept payment for higher rankings. Read full methodology →

Advertiser disclosure

You're our first priority. Every time.

We believe every South African should be able to make borrowing decisions with confidence. While we don't cover every credit provider in South Africa, we work hard to feature a wide range of NCR-registered lenders and provide objective editorial comparisons you can trust.

Affiliate compensation is one of several factors that may affect which products we highlight or where partner lenders appear within promotional placements. Other factors include loan availability, NCR registration status, customer review volume, and the editorial relevance of a lender to a specific guide or comparison page.

However, these factors do not influence our editors' opinions or our scores. Every rating is calculated using the same independent methodology applied to every lender, partner or not. Our partners cannot pay us to guarantee favourable reviews, hide negative customer feedback, or alter their score. If a partner performs poorly on customer reviews or NCR compliance, their rating reflects that.

Pros & Cons

Advantages

  • Ranked 4th out of 37 lenders in our analysis, which is a genuinely strong result
  • Loan amounts start at R500, so you're not forced to borrow more than you need
  • Short terms from 5 days mean you're not locked into a month-long commitment if you don't need to be
  • Fully online process with no branch visits required
  • 2,483 customer reviews collected, giving a reasonable sample size to judge them by

Disadvantages

  • 60% per annum is above what you'd pay on a credit card or personal loan from a major bank
  • Maximum loan of R4,000 won't help if your emergency is bigger than that
  • Trust score of 6.5 out of 10 based on customer reviews we collected is mediocre and worth noting
  • No first loan free offer, which several competitors in this space do provide

About LendPlus

If you need R2,000 by Friday and you don't have time to wait three days for a bank to think about it, LendPlus is the kind of lender that actually makes sense for your situation. They do short-term loans only, R500 up to R4,000, with terms running from 5 days to 35 days. That's it. No home loans, no vehicle finance, no long repayment schedules. Just a fast, small loan when you need to cover something urgent.

The rate is 60% per annum. We'll get into what that actually costs you in rands in the full review, but go in with your eyes open. Short-term credit in South Africa is almost never cheap, and LendPlus is no exception.

We scored them 8.1 out of 10, which puts them at number 4 out of 37 lenders we've rated. Solid. Not perfect, but one of the better options in this category.

How Does LendPlus Work?

1

1. Go to lendplus.co.za and fill in the online application form. It takes about 5 minutes if you have your documents ready.

2

2. LendPlus runs a credit and affordability check. This is required under the National Credit Act and there's no way around it.

3

3. You'll get a loan offer showing the exact repayment amount and due date. Read it before you accept.

4

4. Accept the offer electronically. No paperwork, no branch visits.

5

5. The money is paid into your bank account, usually within a few hours of approval on a business day.

How to Apply for a LendPlus Loan

1

Visit the LendPlus website at https://lendplus.co.za and click on the loan application button to get started.

2

Select your desired loan amount between R500 and R4000, and choose a repayment term that suits you, between 5 and 35 days.

3

Fill in your personal details including your South African ID number, contact information, and employment details.

4

Provide your banking information so that LendPlus can verify your account and pay out your loan once approved.

5

Upload any required supporting documents, such as proof of income or bank statements, directly through the online portal.

6

Submit your application and wait for a response from the LendPlus team, who may contact you via phone or email if additional information is needed.

7

Once approved, your loan amount will be transferred directly into your bank account, with no need to visit any physical office.

Processing Time & Payout

⏱️

LendPlus processes applications electronically, meaning approvals can typically come through within a few hours of submitting your application during business hours. Payouts are generally fast once your application is approved and your banking details are verified. For the smoothest experience, apply early in the day and make sure all your documents are correctly submitted the first time.

Fees & Charges

LendPlus charges an interest rate of 60% per annum on its short-term loans, which works out to 5% per month, in line with the maximum interest rate cap set by the National Credit Act for short-term credit agreements. In addition to interest, lenders registered with the NCR may charge an initiation fee and a monthly service fee, both of which are regulated and capped under the NCA. It is important to read your loan agreement carefully before signing so you understand the full cost of credit, including all applicable fees. If you have any questions about the fees that apply to your specific loan, you can contact LendPlus directly on 0871079722 or at support@lendplus.co.za.

Requirements

Who Is LendPlus Best For?

LendPlus works best for employed South Africans who hit an unexpected expense between paydays. Think car repair, a medical co-payment, or a school fee that can't wait. If you can realistically repay R500 to R4,000 within 35 days without stretching yourself, this product fits. It's not for covering ongoing monthly shortfalls and it's not for large purchases.

Is LendPlus Safe & Legit?

LendPlus operates as a registered credit provider under the National Credit Act, regulated by the National Credit Regulator. That means they're legally required to carry out affordability assessments before approving any loan, and they cannot charge fees or rates above the NCA caps. If you ever find yourself in over your head with debt, you have the right to approach a registered debt counsellor regardless of who your lender is. Check the NCR website to confirm their registration status before applying.

Registered Credit Provider (NCR)

Where to Find LendPlus

LendPlus operates entirely online across South Africa, so there are no physical branches to visit. You can apply from anywhere in the country using your smartphone or computer, making the process convenient and accessible nationwide.

Our Full Review

Let's talk about the rate first, because that's the number that matters most. At 60% per annum, LendPlus is charging what's legally allowed under the NCA for short-term credit, but it's not low. On a R4,000 loan taken over 35 days, you're looking at paying back roughly R4,230 or so, depending on initiation fees and service fees which are added on top of the interest. Always look at the total repayment figure in your loan agreement, not just the interest rate.

So is the cost worth it? That depends entirely on why you're borrowing. If the alternative is a R1,500 penalty or missing a payment that damages your credit record, paying R200 in interest and fees is a reasonable trade. If you're borrowing because your budget is structurally broken every month, no short-term lender is going to fix that.

On the application side, LendPlus keeps things simple. The online process is straightforward and doesn't ask you to jump through hoops. Approval and payout on the same business day is realistic if you apply in the morning with all your documents in order. That speed is genuinely useful when you're dealing with something urgent.

Based on the 2,483 customer reviews we collected, the picture is mixed. The trust score of 6.5 out of 10 tells you they're not universally loved. Common themes in negative feedback tend to revolve around communication during the application process and occasional delays in payout. Positive reviews regularly mention the speed and the ease of applying. Nothing in the feedback suggests anything alarming, just the normal friction you get with any high-volume short-term lender.

Overall, LendPlus earns its ranking. At number 4 in our ratings, they're doing more right than most. But go in knowing exactly what you're signing up for.

Account remains open a year after payment was made

I have an issue with my account showing as open when payment was made. I did submit all the necessary documents including a letter from LGR stating it has been paid and closed to the collections@lendplus email address. My matter was being investigated and lendplus was waiting for LGR to respond to them. Please can someone advise me if this matter has any updates because this account has been open for over a year now.

Pathetic Administration and Accounts department

Their administration and account department is pathetic. I had a loan that I had an amount of R8785.2 that I had to pay back. Then I paid a R500 on the 2nd of Feb 2026 and I paid on the 27th of Feb a R8797.10 then they also debited me on the 27th of a R8785.2 I called to ask for my refund they stated they will pay me back. I sent emails with proof of payment tried the site for assistance and just nothing. I even went as far as taking another loan hoping their system will pick up my refunds but nothing, they paid the loan without me signing or confirming mandate. Today is the 16th of March and I havent received any refunds nor any communication from this company. I have lodge a complaint with the NFO as I am tired of struggling to get my own funds back or any communication from them. Again I call multiple times and sent alot of emails with no acknowledgement or a response

I wanted to apply for just R500

I wanted to apply for just R500. Then somehow I was approved for R1200 and the debit date was 2 days sooner than what I entered. I phoned the customer service line, they said “no worries, we will fix it on your behalf and then update the details to the correct amount.” Now it is saying that I was outright DECLINED, and that I have to wait 29 days to reapply. I cannot even get through to the customer service line anymore because that is also telling me I was declined. The chat bot cuts out every time I ask for the matter to be escalated. Horrible experience overall and now my credit score is probably going to take a knock as well due to the incompetence and negligence of LendPlus.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much can I borrow from LendPlus?

You can borrow between R500 and R4,000. The amount you're actually approved for will depend on your income and what their affordability assessment says you can repay within the loan term.

What interest rate does LendPlus charge?

LendPlus charges 60% per annum. That's on the higher end compared to banks and long-term personal lenders, but it's within the legal limits set by the National Credit Act for short-term credit. Add initiation and monthly service fees to get your true cost.

How fast does LendPlus pay out?

If you apply on a business day with all your documents ready, payout can happen within a few hours of approval. Don't count on same-day payment if you apply late in the afternoon or on a weekend.

Is LendPlus registered with the NCR?

LendPlus is required to be registered with the National Credit Regulator to operate legally in South Africa. You can verify any credit provider's registration directly on the NCR website at ncr.org.za before you hand over any personal information.

Can I get a LendPlus loan with bad credit?

Possibly, but it's not guaranteed. LendPlus will run a credit check and an affordability assessment as required by law. A poor credit score doesn't automatically disqualify you, but it will affect your chances and possibly the amount you're offered.

What documents do I need?

You'll need your South African ID, proof of income, 3 months of bank statements, and a working mobile number and email address. Having these ready before you start the application will speed things up considerably.

What is the LendPlus interest rate and how is it calculated?

LendPlus charges an interest rate of 60% per annum, which translates to 5% per month on your outstanding loan balance. This rate is the maximum allowed for short-term credit providers under the National Credit Act, so you can be assured the rate is regulated. Always check your loan agreement for the full breakdown of interest and any additional fees before accepting your loan.

Does LendPlus offer long-term loans?

LendPlus specialises in short-term loans, with repayment terms ranging from 5 to 35 days. If you are looking for a longer repayment period, LendPlus may not be the right fit, and you may want to explore other loan options on loanrating.co.za that cater to longer terms. For short-term cash needs, however, LendPlus is a straightforward and fully online option.

How do I contact LendPlus if I have a problem with my account?

You can reach the LendPlus support team by calling 0871079722 or by sending an email to support@lendplus.co.za. Some customers have noted that resolving account issues can take a little time, so it helps to follow up in writing and keep a record of all your correspondence. Providing all relevant documentation upfront, such as proof of payment, can help speed up the resolution process.

Can I change my personal details, like my phone number, on my LendPlus account?

Yes, you can request changes to your personal details by contacting the LendPlus support team directly via phone or email. It is worth noting that some customers have found this process takes a few steps, so be prepared to verify your identity before any changes are made. Contacting the team at support@lendplus.co.za in writing is a good way to keep track of your request.

Is LendPlus a legitimate and registered lender in South Africa?

LendPlus is a credit provider operating in South Africa and is subject to the National Credit Act, which is enforced by the National Credit Regulator. The NCA sets strict rules around interest rates, fees, and responsible lending to protect consumers. You can verify the registration status of any lender by searching the NCR public register at ncr.org.za.
